United for clean water for All
The World Water Quality Alliance (WWQA) is a global, voluntary, and collaborative network convened by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to strengthen evidence-based action on water quality in support of the 2030 Agenda. It brings together a diverse range of partners—from science, policy, civil society, and the private sector—to co-design solutions for water quality monitoring, assessment, protection, and restoration.
The WWQA works to bridge scientific knowledge and data with concrete policy and management actions. It promotes open data access, collaborative research, and the development of tools and guidance that support decision-making. Through capacity development, innovation, and inclusive participation, the Alliance supports countries and communities in addressing water pollution, safeguarding ecosystems, and turning data into meaningful action for sustainable water quality management.
Collaborative Impact
Through its workstreams, the World Water Quality Alliance (WWQA) facilitates the development of knowledge products and solutions—including capacity-building resources and innovative tools—largely made possible by the voluntary contributions of its global community of practice and supported by a combination of dedicated funding and in-kind efforts. This collaborative approach reflects a strong spirit of partnership and a shared commitment to advancing water quality monitoring, assessment, and management worldwide.
